born: 1876
died: 1956

Georgia Eslick was the daughter of Preston Henry and Mary Ellen Adkins Smith, both of Wisconsin. The Smiths came to Colorado from Hays, Kansas because P.H. was in search of sawmills in 1882. She and her family followed her father from Breckenridge to Hot Sulphur Springs to Grand Lake to Cottonwood Pass. Georgia was twelve when her mother died in childbirth so her father bought a sawmill in Fraser, taking Georgia with him to work. He left her sisters in charge of the little brothers during the week. When Georgia was seventeen, she went to work in Idaho Springs where she met her future husband, Alfred Eslick, a miner. Ten years later, they moved to Grand Lake where her family built the Smith Eslick Cottage Court.
