Judy Stanfill as Anna Rohracher
Anna Rohracher Murphy Reinhardt came to Grand
County over Rollins Pass in 1884. She was born in Leinz, Austria in
1877. Her family included a twin brother, Andy, older brother Frank,
older sister Mary (who worked at Cozens Ranch and married Willis Call)
and her parents, Andrew and Mary.
The family settled land between Tabernash and Granby, and the children
attended the Eight Mile Creek School. Twin brother, Andy was killed
working on the railroad in the canyon above Granby in 1903.
Anna married James Murphy in 1907. Three children were born: Margaret
(Short of Granby), James and John. After Mr. Murphy died, Anna married
Joseph Reinhardt. He died in 1946. The Murphy family has remained
prominent in ranching in Grand County
near Fraser.
Anna Rohracher Murphy Reinhardt was known as a hardy pioneer woman who
loved horse back riding, taking her last ride in the Granby 4th of July
parade in1952 shortly before her death at age 75 years.
